Currently:

AKC Registered

Highlights since 1975:

In the summer of 1975 I became a secretary for the United Farm Agency real estate company.  In  April of 1977 I took an office position with First Colorado Land Office working for Kirk &Gerry Gibbs-Chris Gibb’s Mom&Dad!.

I married Ron Jackson in April, 1978. I then completed real estate courses/exam and became a licensed realtor in 1982 as well as a Notary Public.  During my early career in real estate I worked on by-laws and ethics for a board of realtors and information for printed MLS books. Yes! Old fashioned printed books!  After the Chaffee County Board of Realtors was formed by the local offices, I continued working  on the MLS Committee, which we later designed and launched our first on-line MLS system.  I remained on the By-Laws/Ethics & MLS committees and later on served on the CC Realtor’s Board of Directors. I was selected as CC Realtor of the Year in 2001.

After 35 years in real estate, I retired from FCLO in 2010.  At the end of  2011 I took a position with Arkansas Valley Publishing (The Mountain Mail!) admin department. processing billing, legal publications and payroll.  I retired from the newspaper at the end of 2022 but continued performing notarizations for a local attorney/estate planner, which I still do on occasion .  Never say never but I think the working days are finally over!

Somewhere in my spare time during those working years I was an active member of Art Of The Rockies Assoc. and painted oils and watercolors and enjoyed working the annual open awards art shows.  I have a passion for English bulldogs and have an extensive collection of anything bulldog related.  I am also an avid fan of Pirates Of The Caribbean and also have quite a collection of pirate stuff. I even painted a mural of a ship scene from the first movie on my home office wall!  Ron is such a good sport!  After all the busy years I love just being at home.  Ron and I both have been very fortunate and blessed.  Life is good!

Favorite Teacher:  Rod Farney for Art (4 hrs independent art senior year!)

Goofy Teacher:  Roberta Koenig for Typing I&II (told me I would never get an office job because she caught me chewing gum& that wasn’t proper for secretaries)

Serious Teacher:  Mrs. Melien-English (we all had to write a short story.  I remember Randy Myers writing about “The Insane Rooster At Roley’s Egg Ranch”.  Mr. Roley had to call in the FCB-Federal Chicken Bureau.  Needless to say, Ada Jane didn’t think it was too funny! Can you say  an“F”!  Randy’s story was actually very clever!)

Two Favorite Memories:Making posters with a group of girlfriends to tape on the boy’s buses for out-of-town football gamesDesigning and working on our backdrop for graduation

Favorite high school memories:

Attended colleges in Trinidad and Colorado Springs. After getting married (and yes I married up! ); we purchased our first home in Salida.  I went to work for Salida Wholesale and later partnered in a painting company for a couple years.  I then went back to school and graduated from United States Truck Driving School.  I drove for Werner cross-country. Came back local and drove for JC Trucking (local terminal/CO based in Denver) hauling hazmat (gasoline/LP/quicklime/caustic soda/acid). After 8 ½ years with JC, I went to work for Colorado Quarries hauling marble off of Monarch. I then took a job with Fred Lowry hauling heavy equipment.  Later for a short time, myself and 2 partners purchased the business from Fred and became Lowry Contracting.  After years of driving I was ready to get off the road.  I took a position with the Chaffee County Road & Bridge Department for 16 years until retirement in 2022. It’s great not having to get up at 4:00 am to go plow snow!

I am still into Ford Mustangs.  I had a ‘69 Mach 1 and now have a ‘73 convertible.

Favorite Memories:

Crusin' F Street (when we could still blow our horns at each other!).

Hanging out at the bowling alley game room.

Not So Favorite Memories:

I seemed to always occupy the seat at the end of the bench during basketball season.

Not really any favorite teachers, I just wanted out of school!

Highlights since 1975:

I worked in medicine my whole life in one form or another.  My first and last jobs were at the same place: Salida Hospital/Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.  I was the first respiratory therapist that Salida Hospital ever had!  I’m pretty proud of that.

I am widowed. My husband of 30 years, Mark, passed way in 2017.  He was the strongest person I’ve ever known.  I met and married him after John McBride and I divorced. Together Mark and I raised four kids.  Adam and Alex McBride and Cassandra and Sara Martinez.  I have nine grandchildren ranging from 24 down to 8.

After my husband died, I traveled around the US for a while trying to figure out where I belong. I  finally think I found my spot in Fort Collins.  I love it up here.

As of this date, I’m not planning on going to the reunion and I hope you all have a wonderful time!

Go Spartans! Class of 1975!

Favorite high school memories:

I would say that my favorite memories of Salida high school were how friendly all the kids were when I got there halfway through my sophomore year and how much fun we had in pep club at all the games.  I loved being state champions and traveling to games.  I really loved glee club, the singing Christmas tree and treble clef.  My saddest memory of high school was when I was taken out and moved to Mississippi halfway through our senior year.  I lost my spot in treble clef and that was sad.  But I did get to come back because Mississippi had a rule that I could not graduate because I did not have enough PE credits. Ha ha!

Highlights since 1975:

Having moved from Salida to Albuquerque before our junior year, I have been to two Salida Class of 75 reunions and three for Manzano High School in Albuquerque.  Looking forward to the 50th reunion in Salida!

After graduation, I had moved back to Salida for the summer, but returned to Albuquerque and have been there ever since.  I worked as an accountant for many years in the banking industry, but my last 13 years of employment was as Controller/VP of Finance and Human Resources at a workers' compensation self-insurance company.  Very happily retired since September 2022.

I have 3 beautiful daughters:  Jessica (from my first marriage), Michelle and Maya (with current husband, Michael).  No grandchildren but several grand-kitties!

Michael and I love to travel around the United States and to other countries.  We have enjoyed great trips to Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, England, Scotland, Greece, Turkey, and a trip planned in October to Machu Pichu in Peru.  Trying to see everything we can while we can - always great to practice kindness and empathy while learning about other cultures.

Favorite high school memories:

Having grown up in Salida, I have many memories with many classmates, most related to band and/or sporting events, especially State Champions in Football.  I remember Mrs. Koenig's English class and all the pranks Hank Matthies pulled in that class, absolutely hilarious.  Drama Club was great as well and I still say "shoot a mile", a phrase used in the "Say Uncle" play.

Worst memory was having to move prior to junior year. However, that year I made my parents take me to Salida for every home football game and even some away games!

Married to Rod Padilla

Two daughters: Rianne (Matt) and Kendra (Jimmy)

Two grandchildren: Tayler (17) and Tyson (13)

One dog: Pixie

Highlights since 1975:

I moved to Denver following graduation and attend a fashion merchandising school for one year. I worked for Continental Insurance Company for 3 years.

Rod and I married and welcomed our two daughters. For 12 years I was a stay-at-home mom and I enjoyed that very much. After that I went to work for Cherry Creek Realtors as a receptionist and eventually office manager. I decided to follow in my dad’s footsteps and obtained my Colorado real estate license and spent 23 years selling residential real estate in the Denver Metro area. I also worked for the Cherry Creek School District for 20 years as an administrative assistant at the alternative high school. It was challenging but quite rewarding, as well. I retired 6 years ago.

I enjoy time with family and friends, traveling and reading.  Rianne, Matt and family live near us which is wonderful because we see a lot of them. Kendra and Jimmy live in El Dorado Hills, California. We look forward to visiting them.

Favorite high school memories:

My favorite memories are being a cheerleader (STATE CHAMPS!), Select Choir, Spartan Sparkles, Treble Clef and the Singing Christmas Tree (that was a little scary!). Mr. Held was my favorite teacher. I loved all the fun times with friends. It’s crazy how much fun we had dragging F Street!

Married 38 years to Steve (Class of 1974, Havre, MT)

One son, Sean (Age 31)

Highlights since 1975:

After moving to Fort Collins and attending one year of business college, I started my career as a bookkeeper for the local Ranchway Feeds Mill and then became a federal employee with the US Department of Agriculture in 1977, starting as a clerk in the administrative area and working my way up to a management analyst position in the telecommunications division. I retired early after 22 plus years in 1999 and became a stay-at-home mom when our son started school.

I met my husband, Steve, in 1981 (also a USDA employee), got married in 1987, and adopted our son, Sean, in 1994. He was a good student and involved in many sports throughout the years. Sean graduated from high school in 2012 and CU in 2016. He now works as a revenue analyst for OmniTRAX in Denver’s North Cherry Creek.  He is not married yet but has a steady girlfriend at the moment. He’s a millennial so who knows what’s next!

Steve retired form USDA in 2012 as a fed, and again in 2018 as a government contractor. As retirees, we enjoy all the amenities Fort Collins has to offer such as festivals, free concerts, breweries, and bike paths. We have traveled the US, been to Canada and Mexico, and hope to make our fourth trip to Hawaii in 2027 for our 40th wedding anniversary. Another highlight this year was being with my dad to celebrate his 99th birthday and to receive recognition for his service as a WWII veteran from the governor of Nebraska. His career with the US Bureau of Reclamation is what brought my family to Salida in 1967.

Favorite high school memories:

Cruising F Street and listening to KOMA, state championships, lunchtime basketball, pompon girls singing Doobie Brothers songs, pep club, pep band, making sports posters, playing piano for Treble Clef, helping choose songs and skits for Spartan Sparkles, and listening to Cat Stevens songs performed by the O’Connors.
