2 daughters

Highlights since 1975:

Married to Tim W. Nelson 10-3-1975 in a double wedding with our friends, Don and Peggy Sterle in a rose garden by the Arkansas River.  We had kind of a "hippy" wedding, bought our clothing off the rack (mine was a Gunne-Sax dress, $29.  Jerry Aluise played acoustic guitar, John Denver song for Bobbie.

Our reception was at the Scout Hut.  Jerry played guitar,  Melvina Linza made our cake.  Colors were fall and had a bouquet of Tropicana roses and acorns.  We went to Manitou for our first wedding night.  Tim's dad loaned us his Bonneville (luxury car for us).

I was payroll clerk and prepared patient personal needs accounts for Columbine Manor in Salida for 5 years, worked for Salida Regional Library as payroll, financial bookkeeping, and Interlibrary Loans for 2 years.  After moving to Grand Junction, I worked for Pathfinder Library Service System as a copy cataloguer on OCLC; worked as medical reference library technician at Community Hospital in Grand Junction 5 years, then was Medical/Consumer Health Library Director for 12 years.  I won a successful grant with the National Library of Medicine to automate the card catalog and assisted in writing a grant for a public access computer for guests to the hospital to use in researching health conditions using Health Reference Center software.  Was Circulation Supervisor at Colorado Mesa University, hiring, training and supervising work study students 15-18 per semester for 6 years.  After retiring from CMU, I worked as a substitute librarian for Mesa County School District 51.

We have two daughters, Abbey Moulaison and Amey Collazo, who have blessed us with 5 incredible grandchildren, ages 9 years to 25 years.  Abbey is a licensed Cosmetologist, a gifted cake decorator, parenting time coach supervisor for Hilltop Community Resources.  Amey works for Mountain West Dermatology and is Executive Director of Mesa County Medical Society.

Alex, the eldest grandson will marry his long-time girlfriend/fiancee, Lydia Stalcup from Delta in September.  They live in Broomfield, where Alex is a produce manager for Costco and Lydia just graduated with her Master's degree in Psychology.
Zoe and her boyfriend are both students at CMU and are currently in Costa Rica where his grandparents live.  They are certifying in scuba diving this week.

Sarah is 18, was an amazing musician, playing flute and alto saxophone, is an amazing artist and works for America's Mattress in Grand Junction.  Aya completed 4th grade and has been homeschooled since kindergarten.  Hudson just finished 3rd grade and attends Ascent Classical Academy in Grand Junction.

Tim was a firefighter for Salida Fire Department for 16 years.  He was Fire Captain and public Information Officer.  He wrote two successful grants for the Jaws of Life and for fire prevention puppets, which he used to teach fire safety and prevention for Salida Schools.
He then was sales and delivery for refined fuels sales for Fruita Consumer's Coop.  He delivered fuels to farms and ranches all over western Colorado for 20 years. He is currently their grill master and does demo cooking for Traeger, Weber, Blackstone grills and Right Freeze Dryers (manufactured in Utah).  He is the compliance officer for their reporting to the state and federal guidelines for refined fuels stations and sales + all hazardous materials.

We saw some of Tim's class members at the reunion last year and hope soon that all near years will be combined.  My brother, Kim was the year before Tim's class, and Tim's little brother Kevin (RIP) was the class after mine.  We look forward to seeing everyone older, hopefully wiser and happy at this time in life!

Married, 2 daughters, (Rianne & Kendra), 2 grandkids (Tayler & Tyson), 1 Yorkie (Pixie)

Highlights since 1975:

My lifetime achievement is my two daughters, (Rianne and Kendra), and my two grandchildren (Tayler and Tyson).  My family keeps me on the constant go, and young at heart.  I married our classmate Karen Kurtz, who keeps me grounded and focused on the important things in life, such as faith and family.  Marrying Karen was the best thing I ever did in my life.

I have worked in the telecommunications industry for 45 years, at AT&T, Mountain Bell, ICG, PECO II, US West, Qwest, Century Link, and LUMEN as a DC Power Engineer.

I attended school at the University of Colorado @ Boulder, University of Madrid @ Madrid, Spain, University of Phoenix @ Denver, and graduate work at the University of Colorado @ Denver.

In order to stay active and sharp during my retirement years, I sell annuities, life insurance, health insurance, and long-term-care insurance.  I have been licensed with the Colorado Division of Insurance for over 44 years.  I enjoy helping people when they turn 65 or even if they are not 65!

My hobbies are collecting, annuities, life insurance policies, coins, and stamps (a little strange, now that I type it).

I enjoy travel, skiing, golf, and pickle ball (and staying out of the kitchen).

Favorite high school memories:

Favorite memories at SHS: being a district champion in wrestling and a state champion in football.

Married

1 daughter, 2 grandchildren

Highlights since 1975:

Here’s a bit about my last 50 years…

In 1991, I married my wife for life, Donna Post. We met in 1986 and have had the best of times sharing our lives for the last 39 years. We thoroughly enjoy living in Albuquerque. The weather, quality of life, unique culture, and nearby recreational activities are amazing. Our current routine is 2 or 3 days per week at the golf course, too much time doing house repairs and maintenance, and several days per month exploring the New Mexico outdoors. Added to that is travel to great places in the USA and a few other countries. We also spend 2 or 3 months in the Phoenix area in the winter months. It’s perfect golf weather!

A year after finishing high school, Danette McCarthy (Salida High class of 1976) and I were married. We moved to Topeka, KS, where I attended Washburn University, receiving a BBA in Accounting in 1980. While there, I played on the Washburn golf team all four years. That was definitely the highlight of my college life! Danette and I were young and struggled in our marriage. We ultimately divorced in 1985. From my marriage to Danette, I have a lovely daughter, Brooke. She and her husband, Brad, have settled in Commerce City, CO and have two beautiful children, Evan and Emily, ages 14 and 12. Their home is definitely a favorite place to visit.

My business career was spent at CPA firms in Albuquerque. I got my start thanks to my brother-in-law, who referred me to a Native American Indian owned CPA firm that was just starting up. I moved to another Albuquerque CPA firm in 1993, REDW LLC, and 2 years later was admitted as a partner of the firm. Substantially all of my clients during my CPA career were Native American Indian tribes. I provided audit and consulting services to their governments, casinos and other business activities. I served many years on the firm’s management board and also spent several years as managing partner of the firm’s audit and consulting department. While I was at the REDW, its size grew from 80 to a little more than 200 team members. Of course, the corporate bureaucracy grew as well. So in May 2015, I happily retired from the firm.

In 2018, I was diagnosed with a nasty lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. In February 2023, I went to Mayo Clinic in Phoenix to ask for a specialty drug to slow down the disease. I got the drug, and more importantly, I was referred to the Dignity Health Norton Thoracic Institute in Phoenix as a candidate for a lung transplant. I spent 2 months during the summer of 2023 going through an evaluation to determine if I would be a good transplant candidate. Thankfully, I passed the evaluation and got added to their lung transplant list at the beginning of September, and only a few days later received a double lung transplant. The first several months of recovery post-transplant were a challenge, but I made it through thanks to my wife and caregiver, Donna. It's been just under two years since receiving the lung transplant. Life is different now, but I am doing very well. So far, no negative news from the transplant doctors. I am blessed and so very grateful to receive the gift of someone else’s lungs.

Favorite high school memories:

Looking back, my favorite memory of Salida High School is everything. Great friends and classmates, teachers that cared about you and participated in your life, free golf at Salida Golf Course, and growing up in a small town in Colorado. I can’t imagine what could have been better!
